A mindful eater is someone who practices these two methods:

a) mindful-eating techniques

b) uses mindfulness and meditation to heal and release difficult emotions at the root of their emotional eating

Mindfulness to be put simply is awareness, being fully present, free of any judgement. When we binge eat or eat for emotional reasons, we do so to numb difficult feelings such as stress, shame, guilt, anxiety and low self-worth. We want to block out the difficult feelings by using food as an emotional distraction. Deep down, we are seeking to go unconscious, so we don’t feel the pain.

The root cause of your binge and emotional eating is finally healed through what l call ‘liberating awareness’; a powerful practice of mindful insight that breaks you out of painful emotional patterns. As you train in Mindfulness, you will have the confidence and the skillset to finally open and heal the emotional wounds that have kept you reaching out for food for comfort.

How do I train in Mindful Eating?

Eating mindfully means being fully present in not just knowing about WHAT we eat, it is also about WHY we eat, HOW we eat and WHAT is going on for us while we eat.

For example, one component of training in ‘Liberating Awareness’ and aspect of mindfulness is learning to create mental space and observe when you find yourself reaching out to food to distract from painful feelings. The key here is mental space, the space to pause and observe your thoughts and emotions, instead of reacting mindlessly through the force of emotional habit. As you do this, you give yourself choice in how you want to meet your emotional needs without ‘stuffing’ them down with food.

As you train in mindfulness you will discover the following benefits:

✓ You will deal with difficult emotions without turning to food

✓ You will learn to connect with inner peace using meditations/mindfulness practices

✓ You will develop self-compassion and stop the cycle of guilt, shame, diet and binge

✓ You will dispense with the ‘all or nothing’ mindset and relate to yourself with kindness

✓ You will to learn to cultivate joy from within and enjoy purpose and meaning

✓ You will learn to release painful emotions associated with your past trauma

✓ You will find emotional and food freedom

As you heal you will discover parts of your life that have remained stagnant by your emotional eating. You will discover that many aspects of your life improve as you start to live a full life!
